Film, et al, Soundtracks
We do not have a separate "Soundtrack" section in our Brick-and-Mortar store, however we do carry a number of audio items that nowadays are called 'original film score' recordings - music, generally instrumental, specifically written for the film, meant as cue music and background music.
(These used to be called 'soundtracks'; what that word is reserved for nowadays by the record companies are collections of songs - i.e. 'hits' packages - that are maybe only heard for seconds in an actual film, but are put out to provide synchronicity in advertising the film, and pick up additional revenue by association. Thus some films have had up to 3 different audio releases [!] - like the Batman [1989] film, which had the Danny Elfman compositions ['original score'], songs written by Prince for the film ['soundtrack'] and a various artists album ['soundtrack'] )

BEFORE JOHN ZORN CREATED THE TZADIK LABEL in co-operation with the famed jazz producer Kazunori Sugiyama, he curated the AVANT imprint, a sub-label of the DIW jazz label in Japan. Individual NAKED CITY CDs were released ONLY through that label as well as many others on which Zorn and a host of our favorite "Downtown" players are on.
