March 30th at 7pm for free!! Okkyung is one the most creative
cellists on the scene; she's played with John Zorn, Butch Morris, Tim
Barnes & many more; Tatsuya is a phenomenal percussionist who plays
like no-one else and whose recent release with Peter Kowald (on
Quakebasket) is just fabulous! So please come on down to our new
space at 342 Bowery and check out this phenomenal duet!!!

AND NOW FOR SOME REALLY EXCITING NEW RELEASES TO SAVOR:

ANTHONY BRAXTON - Solo [NYC] 2002 (Parallactic 53){2 CD set} Two
complete sets of solo alto sax live the NY Society for Ethical
Culture's AACM series on May 24th of 2002. Finally! This historic
gig was recorded during last year's Vision Festival, but was not a
part of that fest. It was one of last year's most memorable
concerts, since visionary composer and pioneering alto sax legend
Anthony Braxton played with unlimited resourcefulness for two long
sets. Mr. Braxton plays three standards - Miles' "Tune-Up",
Ornette's "Peace" and Coleman Hawkins' ancient chestnut "Body & Soul"
and all are done with essence of taste. This was Mr. Braxton's first
concert in many years and all who attended were blessed with his
gracious spirit and distinguished performance. Professor Braxton
will play a rare duo set with his old associate Leo Smith at Tonic on
Saturday April 5th. Rumor has it that Anthony will play piano for
this night. We hope this is not the case.
2 CD set release for $28.

EI - Music Electronic and Otherwise (Issue One/Spring 2003)
[magazine] Once known as IE, this excellent, well written and
provocative magazine is back with a vengeance. Eighty pages of
feature articles on electronic pioneers past and present - Morton
Subotnick, Steve Roach, K. Leimer, Artemiy Artemiev, Kim Cascone,
Benge, Plankton Man and our old pal Kurt Ralske, plus more than a
hundred reviews of diverse avant composers/musicians like Kevin
Drumm, Merzbow, Fennesz, Thomas Lehn, Terje Rypdal, Sarah Peebles,
Scorn, Main, DJ Cheb I Sabah, the Erstwhile crew and way too many
more to mention. The reviews overall are well written and
insightful, often lacking the sarcastic or smug attitude that some
more well known zines fall victim to. One small complaint is the
article on Kurt Ralske has some half dozen factual errors, probably
due to getting this info from an old 4AD publicity sheet. Other than
that, an excellent read with way too much info for one toilet
sitting. Eighty page magazine for $4.50

LOREN CONNORS - The Departing of a Dream Volume II (Family Vineyard
22) The cover features a b&w photo of sad, thin little girl holding
on to bard wire fence and gazing downward. The inside photo of Loren
shows him looking older, grayer and a wee bit haggard. After a dozen
or so releases over the past five years, both the current stream of
gigs and cds/7"s are finally slowing down. This is solo electric
guitar(s) effort once again with Loren providing that cushion of a
slow, dark fog rolling underneath his ghost-like shimmering
drone-note guitar swirls. In Loren's world, time slows down to a
death-like dirge as each note is placed with graceful finality.
Tapes of birds and other (un)natural sounds float in the distance
like disembodied spirits. Sometimes Loren piles up a couple of
layers of guitars which growl and buzz together into a dreary,
mesmerizing haze. Like most of Loren's cds, this one is just a
couple of minutes past the half- hour mark and that is just about
enough. How can something be so sad and beautiful, lonely and
uplifting at the same time?
CD release for $10.

TRI-FACTOR [KAHIL EL ZABAR/BILLY BANG/HAMIET BLUIETT] - If You
BelieveS(8th Harmonic Breakdown 80004) Completely charming acoustic
trio effort featuring Kahil on ethnic percussion, kalimba and vocal,
Billy on violin and Hamiet on bari sax & bamboo flute. The title
track opens with a fine funky groove of conga, bari sax, plucked
violin and festive, deep (Gil Scott Heron-like) vocals. Kahil does a
great job throughout of creating subtle yet enchanting grooves for
both Billy's ever-spirited violin and Hamiet's warm, earth-toned
baritone sax. Billy and Hamiet often switch roles of playing the
rhythm with Kahil, while the other member takes spicy solos on top.
There is a lazy, somber vibe to much of this, perfect for Spring day
with not much else to do but sit on the porch and sip some ice tea.
There are a few feisty pieces where the fiddle and bari lock in and
dance together over Kahil's jubilant rhythms with some honkin' sax
and string eruptions on top. At 73 minutes, this is quite a long,
yet joyous journey throughout. Billy came to visit us here at DMG
this week and left us with a short stack of these fine discs, so for
now...
CD release for $14 (while these last)

STRING TRIO OF NEW YORK - Gut Reaction (Omnitone 12202) This
extraordinary and enduring trio has been around for a quarter century
now and has always included James Emery on guitar and John Lindberg
on contrabass, with some half dozen different violinists through the
years. Newest member on violin is Rob Thomas and this great cd was
recorded live at the Jazz Standard in NY in May of 2001. Although
many of us were not familiar with Mr. Thomas before this, some of us
have caught him with the Mahavishnu Project, an amazing local
sensational who cover the difficult Mahavishnu Orchestra catalogue.
'Gut Reaction' features equally demanding music composed by Emery or
Lindberg with one piece composed by Dave Douglas and commissioned for
the trio. Emery's "Upstart" begins with both James and John banging
intensely on their strings until they into the gnarly yet oddly
swinging theme. Soon James takes an incredible, furious acoustic,
hollow-body guitar solo that would certainly give a heart attack to
most mellow pickers or listeners. Then Lindberg takes a frenzied
solo while Emery also swirls around him like bees buzzing around a
hive. Mr. Lindberg's "Nature, Time, Patience" is a suite in three
parts and has the bass setting the pace while both the guitar and
violin play the challenging parts, all three navigating through the
dark currents. James takes another amazing, frantic solo while
John's bass throbs at the center with a hypnotic groove, which calms
down to a fine solo bass section and eventually a most impressive
solo from Rob's spirited, spiraling violin. Emery's "Ode" is an
elegant work with some exquisite acoustic guitar and violin both
playing his haunting melody with delicate finesse, while John plays
his poignant bass part at the center. Dave Douglas' In So Many
Worlds" is dedicated to the legendary jazz piano hero Jaki Byard, who
was murdered a few years ago. This is a most challenging work which
moves through different sections in another three part suite. John's
propulsive and angular bass parts push the trio through intricate
twists and turns. Rob plays an incredible. intense violin solo which
sounds as if it was written for Mark Feldman who is Mr. Douglas'
usual violinist in his string group. The section called "Mournful"
is just that, a touching, melancholy ballad sort of tune, while the
final section is eloquent piece called "In Praise". The closing tune
is Emery's "Offspring", which is a quick paced piece with some sharp,
spinning solos from the violin and guitar while Lindberg pumps and
pushes hard on his bass. A marvelous ending to a highly charged
offering from the sensational String Trio of New York! CD release
for $15.

JOHN TCHICAI/PIERRE DORGE/LOU GRASSI - Hope is Bright Green Up North
(CIMP 278) Both Mr. Tchicai and Mr. Dorge were born in Denmark some
ten years apart (1936 & 1946), and first played together in the late
sixties, after Tchicai returned from NY and played in the legendary
ESP unit - the New York Art Quartet. Both Dorge and Tchicai
continued to play together on occasion and also lead their own bands
since then. Last year Dorge's Big Band toured the US with Tchicai as
a guest soloist and Tchicai also appeared as guest in local drummer
and composer Lou Grassi's Po Band cd last year on CIMP. So this
first time trio date was recorded on a day off during Pierre's big
band tour up at the Cadence mansion in Redwood, NY. Tchicai plays
tenor sax and bass clarinet, Dorge plays electric guitar and Grassi
plays drums, all three contribute songs here and there are a few
collective improvisations as well. The three improv pieces all swirl
with intense, frenetic spirits. Pierre Dorge spins quick flashes of
lines, not unlike early Mclaughlin or current Bruce Eisenbiel.
Pierre's "Biciclo" has a sweet, melancholy melody played by the
guitar while John's tenor sails and squawks around the theme, later
the sax and guitar exchange roles as the sax plays the theme and the
guitar swirls around him. "Loop for Susan R." is a slower more
cerebral song by John, in which the sax and guitar play the tune
while Lou swirls around them with his busy mallets flying and a
great, powerful drum solo. Lou's "Ballad for 9/11" is a haunting,
melancholy piece which is fragile and filled with ancient sadness for
the victims and heroes of 9/11. John's "News from Lou" starts off
with a gentle melody and then takes off for more violent, freer
section. An unexpected delight is Pierre's "Sumolle", which has a
rather funky, African type of groove, so let's all get down to this.
Do you think that Bob Rusch was actually dancing when they did this
one? "Time to Stretch" has Lou pounding quietly with mallets on his
drums in a tribal way and John playing some nice, child-like bass
clarinet. Tchicai's "Claira to Claremont" brings their story to
solemn yet quirky finish with more Eisenbeil-like streams of notes
from Pierre's nimble guitar. Of course, the cover is graced by a
couple of cute bears climbing a tree, thanks to our pal Slim. Groovy!
CD release for $14.

PAUL LYTTON/JOHN STEVENS/FRANK PERRY/EDDIE PREVOST/TREVOR TAYLOR -
improvising percussionist (FMR 81-0501) Five of Great Britain's
finest and most adventurous percussionists perform solo pieces in the
studio from around 1974 on this wonderful compilation. Frank Perry
(from Keith Tippett's Ovary Lodge) has a massive set-up of cymbals
and drums and plays magical, dreamy, floating sounds in a ritualistic
way. The late and highly influential John Stevens was the founding
father of the Spontaneous Music Ensemble and this is his only solo
effort to ever be released. Here he also plays cornet and drums
simultaneously, swirling fragile free percussive sounds in a most
organic and spacious way. Paul Lytton, longtime member of the Evan
Parker/Barry Guy Trio and LJCO, also plays electronics and here
creates eerie sonic sculptures with mysterious fragments, a strange
blend of electronic and acoustic alien transmissions. Trevor Taylor
is the editor of Avant magazine, as well as being involved with the
Percussion Profiles book put out by the same folks last year. He
also has a large set-up of classical percussion and plays electronics
as well. Trevor works well with suspense and space, gently evoking
and mixing acoustic/electric spirits in his cauldron percussive
spices. Eddie Prevost has been member of the legendary AMM since the
mid-sixties and has a completely unique touch. Although he uses a
conventional drum kit here, he creates his sound by rubbing and
bowing cymbals and drums, from ultra delicate to dense web of sonic
sorcery, with a free flowing jazz-like spin. Spectacularly recorded
British jazz producer Peter Eden and quite a treasure of
provocative/evocative sounds. From the impossible to keep in stock
FMR label, so order soon or forget about it. CD release for $17.

ELLIOTT LEVIN-MARSHALL ALLEN-TYRONE HILL QUINTET - Opportunities &
Advantages (CIMP 276) This fine Philly based unit features three
great horn players - Elliott Levin (tenor, soprano & flute) from
numerous Cecil Taylor ensembles, Marshall Allen (alto & clarinet) &
Tyrone Hill (trombone) both of whom play in the Sun Ra Arkestra,
which Marshall leads with Howard Cooper (bass) and Ed Watkins
(drums). This is Eliott & Tyrone's 4th release and Marshall's 5th
for the CIMP label. The first track has that groovy "Turn on Your
Lovelights" second line sort of beat, with some fine, jubilant
soloing from the alto, trombone and soprano sax. What's odd is that
Eliott, who one of the most intense free-jazz sax giants to emerge
from Philly, often lays back to deal with the more inside view of
jazz's vast history on most of his CIMP cds. On "See Minor Run" the
rhythm team plays slow, simmering groove while the horns swirl around
each other and each taking an inspired solo, starting slowly before
erupting near the end. "Trio Number One" is the one spacey, freer
piece, for soprano, clarinet & bone, quirky and cool, playful and
joyous. The quintet take off for the stratosphere on "Space Station"
with all three horns wailing together is a cosmic communion of the
spirits. What makes many of the pieces so special is the wonderful
that all three horns play together, two swirling while the third
solos, always connected. Elliott's "Day of Blowing" my favorite
piece and the liner notes include Elliott's great poem for this
piece. Mr. Levin takes one of those tenor solos that reaches for the
stars, pushing the other two horn to also dig in and let go. I kind
of wish that they would take things a bit further out more, but this
is still a fine, spirited session from five of Philly finest. CD
release for $14.

THE WALLY SHOUP TRIO - fusillades & lamentations (Leo 364) Featuring
Reuben Radding on acoustic bass, Bob Rees on drums and Wally Shoup on
alto sax. This is/was a Seattle based trio, at least until Reuben
moved back to NY recently, after his sojourn to the Pacific northwest
for a few years. I can only recall Mr. Shoup from another intense
trio offering with Thurston Moore, also from a few years ago, but it
turns out that he has also worked with LaDonna Smith and Davey
Williams, Birmingham's finest and early Zorn & Chadbourne
collaborators. Never heard of drummer Bob Rees, but he too is a most
impressive young player. Right from the beginning, "The Sacrificial
Lion", we are in for an intense ride through free-form eruptions,
stream, scream, blasting, wailing, a storm of intense activity,
moving in waves, a most focused trio swimming in the stream together,
navigating the currents. Each member an integral part of the
proceedings, each helps steer through the troubled waters. Wally has
a strong, dark tenor-like tone and large bag of ideas. Each member
knows when to lay back while the others calm down, before they are
hurled into the abyss once again. This a well balanced and well
recorded studio effort and has an organic flow that keeps the pulse
in constant motion. This is no scream fest either, since there are
many moments of somber reflection, between the more explosive
episodes. Another little known treasure from the vast Leo sea of
recordings. CD release for $15.

DJ SPOOKY w/ MAD PROFESSOR & LEE 'SCRATCH' PERRY - Dubtometry
(Thirsty Ear 57128) This is a compilation of DJ Spooky's 'Optometry'
release which features remix versions by Karsh Kale, DJ Goo,
Negativland, I-Sound, Parachutes, Alter Echo, Blend, Animal Crackers
and others. What's interesting is that most folks either really dig
(most of) what DJ Spooky does or think he is a charlatan trying to
con us into thinking he is doing something great or just cool. I've
known Paul Miller since his early days and find most of what he does
to be often interesting and occasionally great. I am also a big fan
of "dub", that often mesmerizing, echo/haze effect that was once
employed by certain reggae producers, but has since become a
science/sound unto itself. Adrian Sherwood's On-U Sound label was
the furthest out and most diverse of all dub labels, since then a
number of producers have worked successfully with those dub sounds -
from Bill Laswell to entire labels like Wordsound and Baraka
Foundation. DJ Spooky has obviously studied hard and absorbed the
magical ingredients of dub. Here he wisely selects a bunch of remix
artists, known and unknown (to me) and they each add their spice to
these dubby tracks. There are some hip-hop tracks like the foul
mouthed J-Live, as well as toasting from Lee "Scratch" Perry, but
what makes this work is that special dub spice of adding those
hypnotic effects to the mix. Like some of Laswell's better
compilations, this one makes us realize that dub is an international
art form and has a richly diverse way of dealing with songs and
sounds. Even those who don't normally deal with dub (like
Negativland) have found a way make it work in their own way. There
is a great deal of boring, un-adventurous and derivative dub out
there, but Mr. Spooky has done a great job of selecting much of the
better dub to make this an engaging comp throughout. Good work,
homey! CD release for $15.

CHAS SMITH - An Hour Out of Desert Center (Cold Blue 0013) This is
the second solo effort from composer, inventor and instrument maker,
Chas Smith, on the ever mysterious and often ultra-subtle Cold Blue
label, which is based in LA, but often sounds like it was recorded in
the desert. Chas plays pedal steel and (a one-of-a-kind) Bigsby lap
(steel) guitars, zither, prepared Guitarzilla, crotales and Pez
Eater. Don't ask me to explain what those weird instruments are, but
the results are certainly fascinating nonetheless. The title track
has a heavenly steel guitar drone floating on a cushion of spacious
silence. The elegant drone has a rather bowed string like presence,
which has an enchanting, hypnotic aura, solemn and dreamy spirits.
"Absence of Redemption" is somewhat more eerie and is filled with
some mildly disturbing, anxious shimmers. Like walking through a
valley or desert of drifting spirits or ghosts. Each note glows and
is slowly stretched out so that one can watch each drone closely as
it floats on by. "Albuquerque 5402" is split into two parts, "A
Curse of Beauty" is first and once again, those drifting, drone-like
spirits are shimmering in a mesmerizing haze. The final part, "A '75
Scircura" is also filled with shimmering, dreamy drones which flutter
and sail in an exquisite and enchanting world of wonderful spirits.
A very special spiritual offering.
CD release for $14.

MICHAEL BYRON - Awakening at the Inn of the Birds (Cold Blue 0012)
Michael Byron's music is one of contrasts, rioted for its
intertwining of minimalist and maximalist techniques and rigorous
processes with freely composed music. In its unique way, it
reconciles traditional notions of beauty with boisterous,
almost-out-of-control instrumental writing. This new cd collects four
of Byron's works written in the last three years, except for a new
recording of a piece from 1981, all performed by some of today's
most-respected new-music champions: Sarah Cahill, Joseph Kubera,
Kathleen Supove and the FLUX Quartet. "Continents of City and Love"
and "Tidal", were written 20 years apart and are both arch-form
pieces scored for two pianos, synthesizer, string quartet and
doublebass. "Evaporated Pleasure" is a fiery work for piano with four
hands. Composed from an equal-tempered approximation of the harmonic
and sub-harmonic series and multiple corrupted stochastic processes,
it starts out almost hesitantly and builds to a wild, swirling
barrage. "Awakening at the Inn of the Birds" is built from sets of
rhythmic units that continuously change and develop. - Press release
info. CD release for $14.

ANOTHER GREAT WEEK of HISTORIC REISSUES for MARCH 28th, 2003:

SOFT MACHINE -BBC Radio 1967-1971 [2 CD set] (Hux 037) It's finally
here! As most everyone knows by now, the Soft Machine were generally
inadequately served by their official releases. The Peel Sessions set
was one of the first and most important additions to their legacy.
And it was a mind-blower. This is an expanded repackaging of the
double CD set that came out on Strange Fruit in the early 90's. This
includes everything that still exists in the BBC's vault from Robert
Wyatt's tenure in the band. You get 25 minutes of the band's 1st
session in 1967 with Kevin Ayers (never before released and in great
sound, taken from the reel in Bob Woolford's archive, since the BBC
had long ago destroyed their copy), a couple of solo Wyatt tracks (1
never before released), two great sessions from the trio of
Hopper/Wyatt/Ratledge, the incredible 21' long session by the septet
(heard as originally broadcast for the first time in one piece) and a
lot of material by the classic quartet (Dean/Hoppper/Ratledge/Wyatt),
including a previously unreleased track and another track with over
5' of material that was previously faded out restored back. All in
all this adds over 40' of material not previously available on the
previous set and they have even managed to find some photos I hadn't
seen before and it sports a cover photo by Robert Wyatt. Very highly
recommended.
In stock next week and pre-orders are fine with us. 2 CD set for $22.

ALBERT AYLER - Music is the Healing Force of the Universe (Impulse!
9191) The final studio effort from legendary avant-jazz tenor sax
hero Albert Ayler features Bobby Few on piano, Henry Vestine (from
Canned Heat) guests on electric guitar, Bill Folwell & Stafford James
both play basses, Muhammad Ali on drums, Mary Maria (Parks) on vocals
& compositions and Mr. Ayler doubles on bagpipes. This is a strange
and often misunderstood record that was recorded in 1969 and released
in 1970, the same year Albert's body was found floating in the East
River of NYC. For some six years (1964-1970), Albert Ayler reigned
one of the gods of free-jazz, unlocking the door to the cosmos with
his uniquely transformational spirit/force music. Some say that
Albert lost his way towards the end of career in music and thus died
a mysterious death that no one can (still) explain. Those basses are
buzzing, the rhythm is flowin' freely, Albert's sax and Mary's voice
sail together on top, weaving their thread together, reaching for the
heavens. Transcendent and strangely beautiful! CD reissue release
for $13.

SUNNY MURRAY - Sunshine (Sunspots 530/Actuel 7) Complete album of
incredible American free-jazz insanity at its finest, recorded in a
Paris studio in August of 1969. Led by the very drummer who helped
invent this style/world of avant jazz - Sunny Murray (while playing
with Cecil Taylor and Albert Ayler) in the mid-sixties. After two
astounding releases on the ESP label which were about as out or free
as one could get, this was the next album that Sunny did as a leader.
'Sunshine' features a stellar cast with Arthur Jones, Archie Shepp,
Roscoe Mitchell & Kenneth Terroade on saxes, Lester Bowie on trumpet,
Dave Burrell on piano and Alan Silva on bass. This is of course some
very heavy shit! CD reissue release for $17.

STEVE LACY - Moon (Sunspots 529/BYG) Soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy's
first recording as a leader since moving to Europe (cut in Rome
during September of 1969 for the BYG/Actuel label). Distinctive and
lyrical performances of five Lacy originals featuring trombonist
Italo Toni, clarinetist Claudio Volonte, bassist Marcello Melis,
drummer Jacques Thollot as well as cellist Irene Aebi. Completely
intriguing and passionate music. CD reissue release for $17.

PAUL BLEY - Ramblin' (Sunspots 528/BYG) Avant-garde pianist Paul Bley
(recorded here at RCA Studios in Rome on July 1st, 1966) has been
able to use melody and space in inventive ways while performing
fairly free improvisations. Barry Altschul is spectacular on drums,
with effective polyrhythmic support and bassist Mark Levinson fits
perfectly into the mix. CD reissue for $17.

SUN RA & HIS ARKESTRA - Cosmos (P-Vine 22034) Second CD reissue of
this 1976 album, packaged in a Japanese mini-LP jacket, with 24-bit
digital re-mastering. Originally issued on the Cobra label in France
(most commonly seen in the US on Inner City), the previous CD was on
Spalax. Recorded August of 1976 in the Studio Hautefeuille, Paris.
The seven tracks include - "The Mystery of Two," "Interstellar
Low-Ways," "Neo-Project #2," "Cosmos," "Moonshine Journey," "Journey
Among The Stars" and "Jazz From An Unknown Planet". Featuring a core
line up of: Mr. Ra, Eloe Omoe, Danny Thompson, Marshall Allen, John
Gilmore, Danny Davis, James Jackson, Craig Harris, Ahmed Abdullah,
Vincent Chancy, Larry Bright and R. Anthony Bunn. This is one of the
best later period Sun Ra Arkestra studio recordings and still sounds
"cosmic" today!
Japanese CD reissue for $20.

ARCHIE SHEPP - Attica Blues (Impulse! 9222) Quite an ambitious large
ensemble project from 1972 with music written by Cal Massey and Mr.
Shepp. The stellar cast includes vocals/narration from Joe Lee
Wilson, Henry Hull & William Kunstler, plus Clifford Thorton, Marion
Brown, Roland Alexander, Dave Burrell, L. Shankar, Cornell Dupree,
Jimmy Garrison, Leroy Jenkins, Walter Davis, Jr., Beaver Harris and
too many others to name here. The title track sounds like a great
Staple Singers funk tune, complete with a righteous female soul
chorus. My old pal and jazz vocal great Joe Lee Wilson sounds
marvelous, jeez, what an amazing voice! By now, Archie had moved
away from his freer days and added el. bass, el. piano and some
funkier, but still heartfelt grooves. Cal Massey's two songs are
especially lovely with rich, dark and nicely arranged parts. Archie
plays wonderfully on top of this fine large ensemble on both soprano
and tenor saxes.
CD reissue for probably $13.

ROSCOE HOLCOMB - An Untamed Sense Of Control CD (SF 40144) "Bob Dylan
stated, 'Roscoe Holcomb has a certain untamed sense of control, which
makes him one of the best.' Eric Clapton called Holcomb 'my favorite
[country] musician'. Holcomb's white-knuckle performances reflect a
time before radio told musicians how to play, and these recordings
make other music seem watered-down in comparison. His high, tense
voice inspired the term 'high lonesome sound'. Self-accompanied on
banjo, fiddle, guitar, or harmonica, these songs express the hard
life he lived and the tradition in which he was raised. Includes his
vintage 1961 'Man of Constant Sorrow'." CD reissue for $15

TELEVISION - Marquee Moon (4 Men w/ Beards 501) LP reissue of the 1st
Television (featuring Tom Verlaine) album, originally issued on
Elektra in 1977. To call it punk rock is like describing Dostoevsky
as a short-story writer... it's hard to conceive of a world without
'Marquee Moon' being part of it... a revolutionary album! Their
reunion sets at Irving Plaza last week pretty fucking amazing, once
again. They do have some new material, so let's hope they get in the
studio again. This album features: exact reproduction on 180 gram
vinyl, original artwork including lyrics and memorabilia, detailed
liner notes by Michael Layne Heath, all-analog mastering from the
original master tapes. LP reissue for $14.

RICHARD SINCLAIR - Caravan of Dreams (Transatlantic) Back in stock!
After being a charter member of the legendary Wilde Flowers in the
early/mid 1960's and then being a founding member of and contributing
great bass work, terrific song-writing and one of the most
distinctive English voices this side of Robert Wyatt, to both Caravan
and Hatfield and the North, he then joined Camel for one of their
finest albums, Richard Sinclair sat out most of the 1980's musically,
becoming a carpenter by trade. In 1992 he returned with this album,
the first under his own name. Recorded with the core band of Jimmy
Hastings (Caravan)-flute & saxes, Dave Sinclair (Caravan)-keyboards,
and Andy Ward (Camel)-drums plus Rick Biddulph-bass on the live
tracks, it features many new Richard pieces, plus 'Halfway Between
Heaven & Earth' and 'It Didn't Matter Anyway' (both from Hatfield).
CD for $10 - 7 for the price of 6 CD sale list
